Transcending Prejudice: Embracing Christ Through Genuine Faith and Action (02/02/'24)

Transcending Prejudice: Embracing Christ Through Genuine Faith and Action Individuals who hold onto their prejudices and stereotypes, even as they profess belief in Jesus Christ, often interpret their surroundings—what they see, hear, and think—through the lens of these biases. Despite their familiarity with the Bible, their understanding remains superficial, limited to mere words and concepts, without translating into action. This disconnect indicates a profound ailment: an inability to enact God’s will. However, deep down, such individuals possess a conscience that resists complete self-deception. Without sincere repentance and self-discipline, they risk deluding themselves for personal gain or rationalizing their actions through self-deception. It's crucial for these individuals to remain vigilant, especially in solitude, to avoid succumbing to self-gratification and the ensnaring illusions of evil. Moreover, acknowledging the presence of this spiritual malady is essential, recognizing it as a severe impediment to faith and practice. Jesus emphasizes that the Scriptures are not merely texts but a revelation of His presence. He is not obscured within the Bible but is vividly manifest. Failure to perceive Jesus in the Scriptures signifies a heart closed off to God, indicative of deliberate ignorance (John 5:39). Believers are called to emulate Christ, growing increasingly in His likeness (1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 5:1; 1 John 2:6), transforming faith into living action that reflects His teachings and essence. -Pastor Steven G.
