Subject: Embracing Humility: The Path to Authentic Faith in the 21st Century
Dear Friends and Family,
In these times, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in the journey of our faith. As we navigate the complexities of the 21st century, a profound shift is required in our spiritual focus. It's not merely about expanding our reach through missions but addressing a more pressing concern that affects the core of our being and society: corruption.
The essence of our faith is tested when we choose to walk in integrity, especially in the face of opportunities to deceive others, even if it's in the name of doing good. Remember, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows" (Galatians 6:7). Our actions and intentions, especially those cloaked in righteousness, must align with the truth of the Gospel, for they have spiritual consequences that cannot be ignored.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ, in its purest form, is a revelation of God's will to us. It's a guiding light that demands our unwavering adherence. Straying from this path leads us into darkness, where understanding fades and delusions take hold. Yet, the Gospel, in its initial vulnerability, like that of a newborn, holds immense potential for growth and transformation. It's a vivid reminder that the power of our faith lies not in aggression but in humility and gentleness.
Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of this humility, stating, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3-4). This call to childlike faith is a call to purity, receptivity, and a heart free from the cynicism and pride that often accompany adulthood.
As we move forward, let us focus on confronting and overcoming the corruption within and around us. This endeavor is not a departure from our mission but a deepening of it, calling us back to the simplicity and purity of a faith that is vibrant and alive. It's a journey of returning to the heart of the Gospel, where true power and transformation lie.
Let us embrace this path of humility, for it is through such a stance that we find the authentic expression of our faith in today's world. Together, may we live out the truth of the Gospel, shining as beacons of hope and integrity in a world in desperate need of both.
Blessings,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (March 11, 2024)
