Pursuing Righteousness and Understanding Divine Power (03/12/'24)
Pursuing Righteousness and Understanding Divine Power
Pursue foremost the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). This pursuit is vital, as the longing for righteousness challenges every significant and noble endeavor, as noted by Tacitus. Resisting bad conscience and evil desires equates to adhering to God's will. To further explore these themes, consider Matthew 5:6, 3:2, 6:33, 13:44-46, among other passages.
John the Baptist plays a pivotal role in this context. When Herod the tetrarch heard about Jesus, he remarked to his servants, believing Jesus to be John the Baptist resurrected, which he thought explained the miraculous powers at work in Jesus (Matthew 14:1-2). This misconception underscores the importance of Jesus' ministry and invites further examination through cross-references such as Mark 6:14; Matthew 16:14; 3:1; Luke 9:7, and others. These passages collectively illuminate the profound impact and significance of Jesus' work.
