Subject: Understanding the Essence of Righteousness and Divine Power
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well and thriving in your spiritual journey. Today, I wish to share some insights that have deeply resonated with me, hoping they might offer you guidance and reflection on the path to understanding righteousness and the divine power at work in our lives.
At the heart of our spiritual quest, the Scripture reminds us to prioritize the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). This directive isn't merely a command but an invitation to align our lives with divine principles and values. It challenges us to look beyond our ambitions and desires, echoing the wisdom of Tacitus, who observed that the pursuit of righteousness stands as a beacon against every great and noble enterprise.
Moreover, our journey towards righteousness is marked by a constant struggle against internal adversaries: bad conscience and evil desires. It's crucial to recognize that rebelling against these negative forces is, in essence, an act of obedience to God. By choosing to resist the temptations that sway us from our path, we adhere more closely to the divine will, drawing from the strength and guidance provided in passages such as Matthew 5:6, 3:2, 13:44-46, among others.
The story of John the Baptist, as misinterpreted by Herod the tetrarch, brings a fascinating dimension to our understanding of divine power. Herod's belief that Jesus was John the Baptist risen from the dead, wielding miraculous powers (Matthew 14:1-2), underscores the mystery and might of Jesus' ministry. This reflection, supported by cross-references in Mark 6:14; Matthew 16:14; 3:1; Luke 9:7, etc., invites us to delve deeper into the significance of Jesus' works and the transformative power of faith.
As we share these reflections, let us engage in conversations that deepen our understanding and appreciation for the divine path set before us. May we continue to pursue righteousness with dedication, aware of the challenges but inspired by the promise of divine guidance and strength.
Wishing you peace and enlightenment on your spiritual journey.
Warm regards,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (March 12, 2024)
