Here are some key aspects that contribute to this difference: Theological Foundations: Religion: Many religions are based on theistic beliefs where God is seen as a distinct, sovereign entity that exists apart from humans. This separation between God and humans is fundamental in religions like Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, where God is often perceived as a creator, ruler, and judge who is transcendent and omnipotent. Spirituality: Spirituality often embraces a more pantheistic or panentheistic view where God or divinity permeates all things and is inseparable from the universe, including the self. Here, God is not a distinct external entity but an inherent presence that resides within each person and connects all forms of life. Philosophical Influences: Religion: Influenced by dualistic philosophies which maintain a clear distinction between the divine and the mundane, the sacred and the profane.
