Message: New Genealogy Since Jesus (05/07/'24) -Message

Message: New Genealogy Since Jesus Genesis Genealogies The genealogies in Genesis form the book's framework, illustrating humanity's journey from Adam to the emergence of the Israelites. Ancestral Record Genesis chapters 4, 5, 10, 11, 22, 25, 29–30, 35–36, and 46 trace the lineage from creation to the early history of the Israelites. Jesus’s Genealogy The Gospels of Matthew (1:16) and Luke (3:23) highlight a new lineage through Jesus, distinguishing between Joseph's earthly ancestry and Jesus's divine origin. Joseph’s Role Joseph, while not Jesus's biological father, marks the final earthly link, and Jesus's divine conception by the Holy Spirit ushers in the new Messianic era. Testament Shift This marks a clear division between the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing a new spiritual kinship through faith in Christ. Jesus's Spiritual Family Jesus emphasizes this transformation by saying, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers and sisters?" – redefining familial bonds through faith. Theological Context The Gospel of John frames this genealogy through theology: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God" (John 1:1-2). New Spiritual Lineage Jesus establishes a new, faith-based spiritual lineage that fulfills God's will on earth and in heaven. Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 7, 2024)
