Statement: Ballet and Korean Classical Dance (05/08/'24)

Statement: Ballet and Korean Classical Dance Western Ballet: Ballet demands rigorous training and physical refinement, allowing dancers to master intricate movements. This form of Western dance dominates art, religion, evangelism, education, politics, and economics. Its systematic approach, akin to a school for training dogs, embeds an unnatural and rigid discipline that conflicts with human nature. It pressures dancers to conform to high standards, emphasizing technical precision and revealing structured perceptions. Korean Classical Dance: Offers a contrasting approach, embracing natural movements over specialized techniques or conditioning. Encourages dancers to use their heels for balance and move fluidly with expression. Invites anyone to dance without requiring extensive training, transforming emotions into a personal, unique body language. Contrast: Ballet's structured training creates immense pressure, which can lead to an unnatural display of movement. Evangelism within ballet becomes elaborate and costly, much like fountains that jet water into the sky. In contrast, Korean dance is accessible to all, advocating for a dance philosophy that flows like water, inviting people to dance freely through the heart, facial expressions, and natural movements. Conclusion: Both forms reflect different perceptions of movement and expression, one conforming to rigid standards and the other embracing inclusivity. This contrast underlines the importance of finding an artistic path that heals, celebrates joy, and allows for the uninhibited expression of the human spirit. Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 8, 2024)
