Strength in Adversity: Following Christ’s Example* (05/11/'24) -Passage

Strength in Adversity: Following Christ’s Example The Gospel finds strength even in adversity. As the Apostle Paul writes, "I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear" (Philippians 1:13b-14). Despite his imprisonment, Paul remains unwavering in his mission, inspiring others to boldly share their faith. In the face of adversity, we are reminded of Jesus, who chose silence before his accusers. When questioned by Pilate, "Don't you hear all these things they accuse you of?" Jesus made no reply, to the astonishment of the Governor (Matthew 27:12-14). When Pilate reminded Jesus of his power to set him free or to have him crucified (John 19:10), Jesus remained silent, offering no verbal defense. Through this silence, Jesus conveyed an unwavering commitment to his mission. He ultimately gave his life as the final answer, fulfilling God's will and ensuring salvation for all. In following Jesus' example, we find the strength and courage to continue sharing the Gospel, even when we face trials and tribulations. Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 12, 2024)
