Subject: Exploring the Inseparable Nature of Love in the Gospel (05/04/'24) -Message

Subject: Exploring the Inseparable Nature of Love in the Gospel Dear [Recipient's Name], I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I'd like to share some reflections that intertwine some profound biblical passages with the fundamental teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, focusing on the theme of unity and love. In the narrative of Cain and Abel (Genesis 4:9), we are reminded of the intrinsic bond between individuals. The question posed to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" and his response, "Am I my brother’s keeper?" underscore a pivotal theme: we are indeed our brother's keeper. This story reveals the inseparable connection between individuals – highlighting that there can be no 'two' without 'one', and no 'one' without 'two'. This unity is essential, as "ONE IS IN TWO and TWO IS IN ONE." Further deepening this concept is the Gospel narrative found in Luke 15:1-32, which speaks of the search for the lost - be it a sheep, a coin, or a son. These parables underscore the relentless pursuit of re-establishing lost relationships and the joy of rediscovering what was thought to be irretrievably lost. This search is not merely an act; it's a fundamental aspect of Christ's teachings, emphasizing that loving God benefits oneself and extending that love to others benefits them as well. The inseparability of loving God and loving others is crystallized in the Greatest Commandment, which teaches us that "LOVE FOR GOD AND FOR OTHER(S) ARE INSEPARABLE." It is impossible to truly love God without loving our neighbors, and vice versa, as exemplified in both Luke 15:29-32 and Matthew 22:37–39. This dual love is not merely a directive but the essence of Christian living - "YOU CANNOT LOVE ONE UNLESS YOU LOVE BOTH." May these reflections inspire us to seek deeper connections, not only with the divine but also with those around us, fostering a community grounded in love and mutual care. Warm regards, Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 4, 2024)
