Subject: Overcoming Temptation and Practicing Faithful Action (05/09/'24) -Message
Subject: Overcoming Temptation and Practicing Faithful Action
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to share some reflections that have been on my mind:
Children Understand Goodness: Even 3-year-old children grasp the concept of doing good things without resorting to bad ones, yet the elderly often struggle to consistently practice this.
Listening vs. Action: It's important to recognize how we've grown accustomed to listening without taking action. Will this change how we hear?
Faithful Preachers: Despite imperfect sermons, we need preachers who faithfully practice what they preach.
Paul's Struggle with Sin:
The Apostle Paul expresses his struggle, wanting to do right but often finding himself doing the opposite.
He recognizes a power at war within him, enslaving him to sin, leaving him feeling miserable and seeking freedom.
The answer is found in Jesus Christ, who liberates us from sin.
Consider the Cost of Temptation: When faced with temptation, we should consider what we stand to lose rather than what it offers.
Temptation's Power: Temptation is a powerful tool of Satan against our conscience, and it often sneaks in through doors we've deliberately left open.
Courage in Faith: Courage, rooted in faith, means moving from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
A Way Out: 1 Corinthians 10:13 reassures us that no temptation is unique, and God provides a way out so we can endure.
Avoid Testing the Lord: As Jesus said in Matthew 4:7, "Do not put the Lord your God to the test."
Faith and Hope: Without faith and hope in God's grace, the world can drain us of reason and wisdom.
Stay strong and faithful in your journey.
Best regards,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 9, 2024)
