Subject: Reflecting on Two Types of Messiah: A Spiritual Invitation (04/20/'24) -Message

Subject: Reflecting on Two Types of Messiah: A Spiritual Invitation Dear Friends, I hope this message finds you well. Today, I want to share some insights that have been particularly enlightening for me, revolving around the contrasting figures of Jesus and Barabbas as presented in the scriptures. Living "as one who is dead in Christ" (Revelation 3:5) invites us to embrace a fearless existence, secured by the promise of being untouched by the 'second death' as highlighted in Revelation 2:11. This spiritual posture frees us from worldly fears and pivots our focus on eternal truths, a theme echoed across various biblical passages that encourage us to listen and heed divine guidance. In contrast, the historical choice between Jesus and Barabbas presents us with two very different messianic figures. Barabbas, known for his role as a revolutionary leader and described in the Gospels as a notorious figure involved in robbery and murder, represents a messiah of political upheaval. Jesus, on the other hand, offers a path of spiritual salvation and redemption, focusing on internal transformation rather than external rebellion. This contrast raises a profound question: In our current times, which type of messiah would we choose? Are we looking for solutions in political and revolutionary figures, or are we seeking spiritual renewal and guidance from a divine source? As we reflect on these questions, I encourage you to ponder which path resonates more deeply with your own spiritual journey and the implications of that choice for how we live and lead in our communities. Wishing you peace and insight as you reflect. Warm regards, Pastor Steven G. Lee (April 20, 2024)
