Honoring the Election of Little Ones* (05/12/'24) -Statement

Honoring the Election of Little Ones In the sacred scriptures, we find a profound call to honor and cherish the little ones among us. As Matthew 18:10 states, "See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven." This passage reminds us of the divine care bestowed upon these little ones, whose angels stand in perpetual vigil before the face of God. Similarly, 1 Timothy 5:21 urges us to uphold our actions without partiality, stating, "I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism." This directive calls us to a higher standard of holiness and justice, free from earthly biases and favoritism. Each soul, every thread in God's divine tapestry, is precious. The little ones, often overlooked by society, are cradled in the arms of angels, their worth immeasurable and their value profound. To cherish and honor them without prejudice is to glimpse the heart of God and participate in the eternal dance of grace and mercy. Let us remember this sacred charge in our daily lives. By seeing the face of God in the innocent and acting with justice and love, we align ourselves with the divine will. The election of the little ones mirrors our own call to humility, kindness, and a transcendent love that shines as a beacon of light in a world often shadowed by darkness. May we strive to live out this calling, honoring the little ones as God does, with hearts full of compassion and actions marked by fairness and love. Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 13, 2024)
