Christianity’s Radical Mandate: A Call to Action Against the Worship of Power (04/01/'24) -Statement

Christianity’s Radical Mandate: A Call to Action Against the Worship of Power In the heart of Christianity lies a revolutionary challenge—a call to arms against the societal norms that glorify power and oppress the weak. This is not a passive suggestion but a fundamental directive encapsulated in the teachings of 2 Corinthians 12:9, urging us to find strength in vulnerability and God's grace in our imperfections. Regrettably, the contemporary Christian movement seems to have veered off this path. The evidence suggests a troubling conformity to power dynamics, where the voices of the weak are overshadowed by the prevailing worship of strength and authority. This adjustment to power is not what Christianity stands for; it is a deviation from our core principles. The essence of our faith compels us to be provocateurs for justice, to unsettle the world with our unwavering stance against injustice, and to prioritize the needs and rights of the vulnerable above the might of the strong. Christianity is about embodying the revolutionary spirit of our teachings, challenging violence, arbitrariness, and the pride of power at every turn. Our silence and complacency in the face of injustice do not reflect the legacy we wish to uphold. Instead, we are called to embody the radical essence of our faith, advocating for the weak and challenging the structures that perpetuate inequality and oppression. Therefore, it is imperative for us as a community to recommit to our foundational beliefs, to stand firm against the worship of power, and to champion the cause of the weak. Our faith demands action, a bold declaration of our allegiance to justice, humility, and the transformative power of love. This is our mandate, our call to action. It is time to live out our faith with courage and conviction, to inspire and support one another in our collective mission to reflect the true essence of Christianity in the world. Pastor Steven G.
