Subject: A Call Back to Our Roots: Embracing Christianity's True Essence
Dear Community,
I hope this finds you in good spirits and ready for a moment of reflection on the essence of our faith. It's a call to remember and act upon the revolutionary challenge that lies at the very heart of Christianity, as depicted in 2 Corinthians 12:9. This scripture not only encourages us to find strength in our vulnerabilities but also to stand firm in God’s grace amidst our imperfections.
Lately, it seems we’ve strayed from this path. The evidence points towards a concerning trend of conforming to societal norms that idolize power, often at the expense of the weak and the marginalized. This deviation from the principles of our faith calls for a moment of introspection and action.
Our faith is revolutionary, meant to unsettle, to challenge the status quo, and to advocate fiercely for the rights of the vulnerable. It compels us to confront injustices and the pride of power head-on, embodying the spirit of the teachings of Jesus.
The silence and passivity in the face of such challenges do not align with the legacy we aspire to leave behind. Instead, we are reminded of our duty to live out the radical essence of our faith, standing as advocates for justice and equality.
This message serves as a call to action for each of us to re-engage with the core tenets of our faith—to stand against the glorification of power and to champion the cause of the weak. Our faith is not just a belief but a call to action, urging us to make a bold statement in our commitment to justice, humility, and the transformative power of love.
Let us come together, inspired and motivated, to live out our faith with courage and conviction. It’s time to support one another in our collective mission to truly reflect the essence of Christianity in every action we take.
Let’s embrace this call to action with open hearts and minds, making a real difference in the world that aligns with the true spirit of our Christian calling.
In faith and solidarity,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (April 1, 2024)
