The surge, predominantly fueled by the lethal opioid fentanyl, has hit our community hard, especially impacting our Black and Latinx residents disproportionately. Here’s What We Need to Do Together: Raise Awareness: Spread the word about the risks of opioids, especially fentanyl, to prevent drug misuse. Expand Treatment: Advocate for accessible, comprehensive addiction treatment and recovery services. Support Life-Saving Measures: Embrace harm reduction strategies like safe injection sites and naloxone distribution to prevent overdose deaths. Tackle Root Causes: Work towards eliminating the social and economic disparities that drive addiction. Engage Our Community: Collaborate with local leaders and organizations to tailor effective, culturally sensitive interventions.
