Subject: Embodying the True Spirit of the Gospel
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I've been reflecting on the essence of our faith and the teachings of Jesus, and I felt compelled to share some insights that might resonate with you.
Historically, the mission of those who preached the gospel was to communicate God's word to every corner of the earth, reaching out to believers and non-believers alike. This universal approach seems to contrast with some of the more selective methods observed in modern preaching. It's a reminder of the expansive heart of the gospel, intended to touch every life without exception.
Moreover, Jesus emphasized the critical role of the Holy Spirit in our ministry. Preaching the gospel without this divine inspiration misses the core of His directive. We are called not merely to talk about the gospel but to live it fully and preach through our actions. This approach ensures that our deeds reflect our words, fostering a genuine manifestation of our faith.
Jesus pointedly criticized the religious leaders of His time for their failure to practice what they preached. His words in Matthew 23:3, "So practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice," serve as a powerful reminder. It challenges us to examine our own lives, ensuring that we not only share the gospel with our lips but also demonstrate it in our everyday actions.
Let's strive to be authentic in our faith, aligning our words with our deeds and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in all that we do. This is the true spirit of the gospel—one that transforms lives and bears witness to the love and truth of God.
Warm regards,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 2, 2024)
