Subject: Discovering a Deeper Reality Together (02/21/'24)* > Message

Subject: Discovering a Deeper Reality Together Dear Friends, I hope this message finds you well and thriving. Today, I felt compelled to share some reflections that have profoundly touched my heart, hoping they might resonate with you, too. In our journey through life, we often encounter beliefs and creeds that promise a new reality or a deeper understanding of existence. However, I've come to realize that true transformation doesn't spring from merely adhering to a set of beliefs. It requires something more—faith. Not just faith in a creed, but faith in the living essence of God's presence among us. This distinction is crucial, as many advocate for beliefs without embracing the living spirit behind them. Remember, "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken and you are deceiving yourselves!" (Mark 12:27). The scriptures remind us across various passages—from Isaiah to Revelation and the poignant story in John—of the vibrancy and life in true faith. God is described as the God of the living, affirming that to Him, all of us are alive and cherished. This realization calls us to a form of detachment, not from life itself, but from the material possessions that often entangle us. It's about training ourselves to value the impermanent less and cherish the eternal more. True peace and awareness come from this detachment, allowing us to learn from every moment, every mistake, and every person we meet. As Socrates famously said, "I know that I know nothing," reminding us of the humility at the heart of wisdom. Entering through the "narrow gate" as described in Matthew 7:13-14 isn't just about choosing the path less traveled; it's about embracing life's challenges with grace and mercy, knowing that this path leads to true life, even if it's more difficult. As we continue on our paths, let's encourage each other to look beyond mere beliefs, to live in the vibrant, breathing essence of faith. Let's be open to the lessons life generously offers us, embracing the wisdom found not just in books, but in the very fabric of our daily experiences. Here's to walking this journey together, with open hearts and minds, always leaning into the grace that guides us through the narrow gates of life. With warmth and friendship, Pastor Steven G. Lee (February 23, 2024)
