The Sacred Journey of Tears: From Sorrow to Salvation (02/22/'24)

The Sacred Journey of Tears: From Sorrow to Salvation In our most vulnerable moments, when tears freely flow, we are reminded of a profound truth: Tears are Sacred. They are not mere expressions of weakness but are, in fact, prayers traveling directly to God. They embody the depth of our grief and the heights of our love, carrying the weight of emotions that words often fail to express. The scriptures offer solace and understanding in these moments of profound emotion. As expressed in Psalms 42:3, "My tears have been my food day and night," highlighting the intensity of our spiritual and emotional hunger. Even Jesus Himself shared in this human experience, as John 11:35 simply states, "Jesus wept." This act of Jesus weeping shows the depth of His empathy and shared sorrow with us. Revelation 21:4 offers a vision of hope and healing, promising a future where God "will wipe away every tear from their eyes... neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." It is a reminder that our tears are not in vain; they are a part of a cleansing process, purifying our minds and hearts, preparing us for a new existence free of sorrow. Our journey through life, marked by the cross's pain and tears, is a testament to the profound love and life within us, offering consolation and the promise of salvation. It is in embracing the fullness of life, recognizing that "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all are alive" (Luke 20:38), that we find true meaning. The indwelling of God's Spirit within us, as affirmed in Romans 8:9 and 1 Corinthians 3:16, reminds us that we are God's temple, a sacred space where His presence resides. Our life experiences, illuminated by the Holy Spirit, guide us toward an enlightened understanding of our purpose and the sacred journey we are on. Pastor Steven G. Lee (February 22, 2024)
