Title: Navigating the Essence of Faith: Beyond the Boundaries of Belief (02/21/'24)

Title: Navigating the Essence of Faith: Beyond the Boundaries of Belief In the vast expanse of life, where beliefs and creeds abound, there lies a deeper truth that awaits our discovery. This truth transcends mere adherence to beliefs; it requires a faith that is alive and breathing. Such faith does not rest on the laurels of creeds but on the living presence of God among us. It's a reminder that God is not a deity of the dead, but of the living, a message echoed across scriptures from Mark to Isaiah, Revelation, and the poignant narratives of John. This divine perspective invites us to see all beings as cherished and alive in God's eyes. The journey towards this understanding also involves a conscious detachment from the material possessions that often cloud our vision. It's about learning to live with less, to ensure that we are not owned by our belongings. This detachment fosters a sense of peace and alertness, allowing us to absorb life's lessons not just from books, but from our mistakes and the wisdom of those around us. The essence of true wisdom, as Socrates famously stated, lies in knowing that we know nothing, embracing humility as the foundation of our growth. The path of faith is akin to entering through the "narrow gate" described in Matthew's Gospel—a metaphor for choosing a life that, while challenging, leads to true fulfillment and enlightenment. This path, less trodden and filled with trials, is the one that guides us towards a richer, more meaningful existence. As we navigate through life, let us inspire one another to look beyond the surface of beliefs, to engage deeply with the vibrant essence of faith. Let's value the lessons life offers, finding wisdom in the fabric of our daily experiences. Walking together, with open hearts and minds, we are called to embrace the grace that leads us through life's narrow gates, towards a light that shines beyond belief. Pastor Steven G. Lee (February 21, 2024)
