Reflective Message on Compassion and Love (03/25/'24) -Message

Reflective Message on Compassion and Love Who Are We Without Compassion? At the core of our existence, the question emerges: Who are we as human beings if we ignore the suffering of our neighbors? This profound inquiry, rooted in the teachings of Luke 10:25-37, challenges us to reconsider our perspective on who truly is our neighbor. The answer? Our neighbors are those who show us mercy. Our Purpose: To Lift, Restore, and Heal Our calling transcends mere judgments of worthiness. It is not our place to determine if someone merits help or not. Instead, our mission is clear: to lift the fallen, restore the broken spirits, and heal the hurting. This ethos is encapsulated in the simple yet powerful affirmation: "Love God and love neighbors: we rise by lifting others." The Trap of Idolatry The human mind is susceptible to idolatry, often valuing what is fundamentally insignificant due to our flawed judgment. However, the Gospel offers freedom, liberating us from the chains of false absolutes and idolatry. It teaches us to steer clear of idols that promote self-worship, echoing the apostolic warning, "Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry" (1 Corinthians 10:14). The Greatest Commandment The essence of our faith and humanity is captured in the commandment: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27). This directive not only defines our relationship with the divine but also outlines the fundamental principles of how we should engage with one another in love and compassion. In embracing this message, we embark on a journey of empathy, compassion, and love, recognizing that our true strength lies not in dominion or judgment, but in our ability to uplift and heal one another.
