Subject: The Vital Essence of Living in Christ and the Dangers of Idolatry (03/27/'24) -Message

Subject: The Vital Essence of Living in Christ and the Dangers of Idolatry Dear Friends, I hope this message finds you well and thriving in the grace that surrounds us. Today, I felt moved to share a profound insight that resonates deeply with the essence of our faith and the journey we undertake in the light of Christ's teachings. The Living God: A Beacon of Eternal Life In the words of Jesus, "Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all are alive" (Luke 20:38). This powerful statement reaffirms our belief in life after death, urging us to live fully embraced in the arms of Christ. It is a call to acknowledge that true life, eternal and unfading, is found in our Lord. We are encouraged to count ourselves "dead to sin, but alive in Christ," a testament to the transformative power of His love and sacrifice. The Call to Share the Gospel: A Shield Against Manipulation Sharing the Gospel is not merely an act of faith but a safeguard against the manipulation that thrives in ignorance. Jesus, the iconoclast, challenged us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 10:27; Matthew 22:36-40). This commandment is a fortress against the deceptions of the world, including the subtle lure of idolatry. The Perils of Idolatry: A Warning to Heed Idolatry, the scripture warns, is a danger far surpassing the threats of this world, such as the COVID-19 variants. Its manipulation is more dangerous and contagious, leading souls astray from the path of righteousness. The scriptures exhort us, "My beloved, flee from idolatry" (1 Corinthians 10:14) and "Guard yourselves from idols" (1 John 5:21). The cross-references from Exodus to Deuteronomy underscore the severity of this admonition, reminding us of the importance of guarding our hearts against the seduction of false idols. Conclusion: A Call to Vigilance and Love In reflecting upon these teachings, let us remain vigilant against the pitfalls of sin and idolatry, embracing the life in Christ that promises eternal joy and salvation. Let us share the Gospel with courage and love, becoming beacons of His light in a world that often dwells in darkness. May this message inspire you to walk steadfastly in faith, love, and the profound truth that in Christ, we find the fullness of life. With prayers and blessings, Pastor Steven G. Lee (March 27, 2024)
