Subject: Embracing the Unseen Wisdom Among Us (03/23/'24) -Message

Subject: Embracing the Unseen Wisdom Among Us Dear friends, I hope this message finds you well and thriving. Today, I want to share with you a reflection that has deeply resonated with me, offering a perspective that might enrich our understanding of the world and the people around us. It's about the often overlooked truth regarding wisdom and recognition, encapsulated in the profound statement by Jesus: "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house." At its heart, this statement reveals a curious and somewhat ironic aspect of human nature—our tendency to overlook or undervalue the extraordinary abilities and insights of those closest to us. This phenomenon isn't just about prophets or spiritual leaders; it extends to visionaries, innovators, and anyone who steps beyond the ordinary, challenging us to see beyond the surface. The Challenge of Familiarity Why is it that a person's wisdom is often least acknowledged where they are most known? It seems that familiarity can sometimes blind us to the growth and depth of those around us. We remember them as they were, not seeing them as they are now. This insight calls us to question and expand our perceptions, to recognize the potential for greatness in everyone—especially those we think we know best. The Value of External Recognition Interestingly, external validation often plays a crucial role in acknowledging a person's contributions or insights. This is a reminder that true honor and respect might come from those who view us without the lens of preconceived notions. It's a call to celebrate and support the unseen efforts and wisdom in our own communities, recognizing that true insight and leadership can emerge from where we least expect it. A Call to Openness and Reflection Let us take this message to heart and strive to be more open to the potential and wisdom of those around us. Let's challenge ourselves to look beyond the familiar, to appreciate the depth and breadth of insight that lies within those we call our own. This reflection is not just about acknowledging others but about embracing a broader, more inclusive view of wisdom and leadership. As we move forward, let's carry this awareness with us, fostering a community that values and uplifts every member's unique contributions. After all, the greatest insights often come from the most unexpected places. Warmest regards, Pastor Steven G. Lee (March 23, 2024)
