Living Faith: Action as the Pathway to Eternal Life (03/02/'24)* >Message

Living Faith: Action as the Pathway to Eternal Life Dear Friends, In our journey of faith, we often seek clarity on what it truly means to live in accordance with God's will. A profound exchange between Jesus and a lawyer, as narrated in Luke's Gospel, sheds light on this very quest. The lawyer asks Jesus about the secret to eternal life, to which Jesus points him towards the essence of the Mosaic law: to love God wholeheartedly and to love one's neighbor as oneself (Luke 10:25–27). But Jesus emphasizes a crucial point: understanding this commandment is not enough; it demands action. "DO THIS, AND YOU WILL LIVE," Jesus declares (Luke 10:28). This isn't just about knowing what's right; it's about living it out in our daily lives. It's a reminder that our faith, if it is to be genuine and alive, must be reflected in our actions—especially in how we relate to God and those around us. Jesus further reassures us, inviting all who are weary to find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28-30). His message is one of hope and solace, reminding us that following Him lightens our burdens, making our spiritual journey not only bearable but filled with peace and joy. Moreover, Jesus simplifies the essence of our spiritual endeavors in John 6:29, stating that the work of God is to believe in the one He has sent. This belief is not merely intellectual assent but a transformative trust that actively shapes our lives. It echoes the wisdom in James 2:17, which teaches us that faith without action is lifeless. In sharing this message, I invite you to reflect on the depth of your faith. Is it a living faith, evidenced by your love for God and your neighbors? Let us embrace this call to action, embodying the teachings of Jesus in our everyday lives. By doing so, we walk the pathway to eternal life, not alone, but hand in hand with the Divine, who makes our burdens light and our hearts full. May this message inspire you to live a faith that acts, loves, and transforms. Together, let's journey towards a life that truly reflects the will of God. With love and faith, Pastor Steven G. Lee (March 3, 2024)
