Message: Liberation’s Promise: A Call to Justice (06/28/'24)

Message: Liberation’s Promise: A Call to Justice Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today, we gather to reflect on the profound truth that poverty and corruption erode the very soul of society, where justice is absent and hope seems distant. We are reminded of the divine judgment that stands over every social system we construct. The words of Deuteronomy echo through our hearts: "They mistreated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labor. Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil, and oppression. So the Lord brought us out of them with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and gave us this land." In this passage, we hear the cry of the oppressed, a cry that resonates with those who have suffered under the weight of injustice. The Lord, in His infinite mercy, responded to their pleas, seeing their misery and toil. With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, He delivered them, leading them to a land of promise. As we stand in our own land of promise, we must remember that justice is the cornerstone of our freedom. A society that ignores its poor and marginalized invites danger and insecurity into every home. It is a society where fear takes root, spreading like a poison, undermining the very fabric of our community. Our calling is clear. We must be vigilant, guided by love and compassion, ensuring that justice and mercy walk hand in hand. Ignoring the needs of the poor is not an option for us as followers of Christ. Instead, we are called to be beacons of hope and safety, upholding the divine principles of justice that God has laid before us. Let us honor the gift of freedom that the Lord has given us by ensuring that our actions reflect His justice and mercy. May we be inspired by the mighty hand and outstretched arm that delivered us, striving to create a society where all are truly free, where justice prevails, and where love and compassion guide our every step. In the name of the Lord, let us commit to this sacred mission, knowing that in His judgment, justice will never fail. May we walk together in faith, upholding the promise of liberation and the call to justice. Amen. Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 28, 2024)
