A Journey of Strength and Healing: Embracing God's Courage (06/19/'24) -Message

A Journey of Strength and Healing: Embracing God's Courage (Embracing Courage and Healing) Dear Friends, In the quiet moments when the weight of the world seems to press down upon us, there emerges a call from the depths of ancient wisdom. This call speaks of a courage that is not fleeting but a deep, abiding bravery that sustains our souls. It is a call to "Be strong and courageous," as Joshua reminds us, a divine command that whispers into the hearts of the broken and burdened. True strength and courage are not mere human endeavors; they are gifts from our Creator, who promises to walk alongside us and never abandon us. "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." In this sacred assurance, true bravery is found. For those entangled in addiction's snares, this promise is a lifeline, a beacon in the darkest night. We are reminded through the apostle’s words, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength," that our resolve alone is insufficient. In Christ’s strength, we find the power to let go of what wounds us. It is in relinquishing and surrendering to a higher power that we find the courage to change. Isaiah’s gentle reminder, "Do not fear, for I am with you," becomes a balm to our anxious souls. It is God’s strength and help that uphold us, making the impossible possible. To the addict and the hurting, these words are more than comfort; they are a promise of new life and a heart unburdened by the weight of its pain. Paul’s letter to Timothy brings clarity: "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." The courage to confront addiction and break free from its chains is not born of human willpower alone. It is the Spirit within us, infusing us with divine power, guiding us with love, and instilling the discipline necessary for transformation. From the psalmist comes a song of hope: "Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord." It is a call to perseverance, to maintain hope in the face of adversity. In this hope, strength is renewed, and courage finds its firm foundation. In the act of letting go, in the courageous decision to release what harms us, we discover a profound truth. Healing begins not in holding on, but in releasing, in trusting that God will fill the void with His peace. It is a journey, not a single moment of bravery, but a continuous unfolding of trust in God’s unwavering presence. In the courage to let go and the bravery to face our deepest wounds, we find a new path. A path where God’s strength becomes our own, where His love and guidance lead us to peace. It is here, in this sacred space, that true healing begins, and the soul finds its rest. May you embrace this journey of courage and healing with faith and trust in God's steadfast presence. Blessings, Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 19, 2024)
