Subject: Anointed for Burial: A Testament of Devotion (06/02/'24) -Message

Subject: Anointed for Burial: A Testament of Devotion Dear Friends, I wanted to share a profound reflection inspired by a passage recorded in all four Gospels. It speaks of a woman's act of anointing Jesus, an act rich in significance and devotion. Here’s a poetic rendition of this beautiful narrative: In the hush of a humble home, Where whispers of devotion danced on the air, She approached, a vessel in hand, Brimming with fragrant oil, A silent symphony of sacrifice. “Let her alone,” He spoke, A voice that stilled the storm of scorn, For in her hands, she held more than oil, She held the heart of worship, An offering pure, a gesture divine. “Why do you trouble her? For she has done a beautiful thing to me,” In this anointing, she saw the unseen, The shadow of the cross, the dawn of grace, A love poured out, preparing for the burial. “The poor will always be with you,” An eternal call to compassion, Yet in this moment, the Eternal stood before them, A fleeting glimpse of divinity, A presence profound, a mission unmatched. “But you will not always have me,” A truth that echoed through time, In her act, she captured eternity, A testament to devotion, A legacy of love immortalized in memory. “She has done what she could,” A simple act, a profound declaration, “She anointed my body beforehand for burying,” A foretaste of sacrifice, An echo of the resurrection to come. In the memory of her, the Gospel is preached, Her story woven into the fabric of faith, A reminder that in the smallest acts, Love's deepest truths are found, In anointing, in sacrifice, in the eternal embrace. This passage and its poetic rendition remind us of the eternal significance of our acts of devotion and love. Let us carry this legacy forward, living lives that honor the profound truths of the Gospel. Blessings, Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 2, 2024)
