Anointed for Burial: A Testament of Devotion (06/02/'24) -Statement

Anointed for Burial: A Testament of Devotion In a humble home, amidst whispers of devotion, a woman approached Jesus with a vessel of fragrant oil, offering a silent symphony of sacrifice. Jesus spoke, "Let her alone," silencing the storm of scorn, recognizing the heart of worship she held. "Why do you trouble her? For she has done a beautiful thing to me." In her act of anointing, she foresaw the unseen—the shadow of the cross and the dawn of grace. Her love poured out in preparation for His burial. "The poor will always be with you," Jesus reminded, emphasizing the eternal call to compassion. Yet, in this moment, the Eternal stood before them, a fleeting glimpse of divinity, unmatched in presence and mission. "But you will not always have me," He continued, a truth echoing through time. Her act captured eternity, a testament to devotion, immortalized in memory. "She has done what she could," He declared, a simple act with profound implications. "She anointed my body beforehand for burying," foretelling the sacrifice and the resurrection to come. Her story, forever woven into the fabric of faith, reminds us that in the smallest acts, love's deepest truths are found. Her legacy of devotion and sacrifice endures, reflecting the eternal embrace of the Gospel. Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 2, 2024)
