The True Shepherd’s Call: A Message of Unity and Sacrifice (06/24/'24)

The True Shepherd’s Call: A Message of Unity and Sacrifice Beloved friends and family, As we gather today, let us reflect on the profound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the unwavering love He has for us. In the Gospel of John, Jesus declares, "I am the door of the sheep." This simple yet powerful statement invites us to understand Him as the gateway to eternal peace and salvation. In Him, we find refuge from the chaos of the world and the assurance of a secure path. Jesus distinguishes Himself as the Good Shepherd, who willingly lays down His life for His flock. Unlike the hireling who abandons the sheep at the first sign of danger, our Good Shepherd's love is steadfast and sacrificial. He knows each of us intimately, understanding our burdens, fears, and hopes. This divine connection between the Father and the Son exemplifies the depth of His commitment to us. He sacrifices Himself, not out of obligation, but out of boundless love, ensuring our protection and eternal life. The Good Shepherd's call is clear and compelling: "Come, there will be one flock and one shepherd." This is a call to unity, a call to gather as one family under His care. In a world often divided by strife and discord, His invitation to unity is a beacon of hope and reconciliation. We are reminded that in His name, we find a community bound by love and grace, transcending all earthly divisions. Reflecting on the apostle Paul's words, "I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord," we are urged to reassess our priorities. The pursuit of worldly gains pales in comparison to the eternal treasure of knowing Christ. For Him, we are called to surrender all, considering it as nothing, that we might gain everything in Him. In this tapestry of faith, the Good Shepherd stands at the center, His sacrifice the thread that binds us together. His call draws us into His fold, where love, unity, and peace abound. The door remains open, the Shepherd ever vigilant, and the promise of eternal life ever present. Today, let us heed His call. Let us come together as one flock, under the guidance of our True Shepherd. In His voice, may we find our true home, and in His embrace, our eternal rest. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all, now and forevermore. Amen. Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 24, 2024)
