Subject: Healing Beyond the Bars (06/08/'24) -Message
Subject: Healing Beyond the Bars
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a piece of prose that resonates deeply with our ongoing efforts to address addiction and the limitations of punitive measures. Titled "Healing Beyond the Bars," it underscores the importance of compassion and comprehensive support in truly addressing the roots of addiction.
Healing Beyond the Bars
In shadows deep, where pain resides, a soul in chains finds addiction hiding. We jail the lost in iron bounds, yet fail to heal where pain abounds. The addict's cry, a silent plea, seeks freedom from agony, but prison walls cannot cure the heart that aches, the spirit pure. Punishment may calm the storm, but it cannot mend a heart that's torn. In the depths, addiction lies, a monster fed by countless cries.
What good is law without grace, without the ability to see beyond the sinner's face? To understand, to truly see the root of pain and the path to freedom. We need hands of love, not hate, to guide the lost to heaven's gate. With compassion, let us strive to help the broken hearts revive. In gentle whispers, healing starts, a touch of grace on wounded hearts. Treat the cause, not just the sign, and in mercy's light, let hope align.
Freedom is not found in a cell, but in the love that breaks the spell. Let us reach with open arms to heal the heart, to calm the harms. Beyond the bars, a brighter day waits, where love and grace light up the way. In the end, we find our goal: to heal the heart and make it whole.
This prose serves as a reminder of the holistic approach needed to truly address the epidemic of addiction. It calls for empathy, understanding, and a commitment to heal the underlying wounds, rather than merely punishing the symptoms.
Thank you for your continued dedication to making a difference.
Warm regards,
-Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 8, 2024)
