Subject: Rekindling the Flames of Compassion
Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well.
In the shadows of our cities, where the homeless find refuge in tents, a stark reality unfolds. Fragile shelters stand against the elements, symbols of resilience and desperation. Within these makeshift homes, smoke signals the presence of fire—an unyielding force, relentless and devoid of mercy. Fire, in all its consuming fury, never shows compassion.
Yet, amidst this harsh reality, we stand together in our streets and homes, united in purpose. Our collective mission is clear: to heal the wounds of those who dwell in a post-apocalyptic world. Our ministry shines as a beacon of hope, striving to alleviate the sting of poverty without deepening the scars of the poor, those living on the fringes of society.
"Everything is falling apart; threats and cheating are rampant in the streets. It is not an enemy who taunts me—I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me—I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend. What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God." (Psalm 55.11-14)
In this fractured world, we seek to mend the bonds that have been broken. We aim to rekindle the flames of compassion and unity, to walk together once more, hand in hand, toward the house of God. Here, healing and hope await, promising a future where the fires we face are met with unwavering solidarity and love.
Let us come together in this noble mission, embracing the call to be the hands and feet of compassion in a world that desperately needs it.
Blessings,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (June 12, 2024)
